No. 02 — The Services

What we install.

Each service crafted with the same attention you’d bring to your own home. Quality work, transparent pricing, no surprises.

— Service 01

Shower and Wet Room Tile

Full shower builds on a bonded waterproofing system, with the pan sloped correctly, corners and curbs sealed, and a flood test before a single tile is set. This is the job where shortcuts cost the most later.

— Service 02

Bathroom and Kitchen Floors

Porcelain, ceramic, and natural stone over a properly prepared substrate: subfloor checked for deflection, uncoupling membrane where it belongs, and self-leveler when the slab needs it.

— Service 03

Backsplashes and Feature Walls

Subway, mosaic, zellige, and large-format wall tile, laid out so the cuts land where they are least visible and outlets are planned around rather than discovered mid-run.

— Service 04

Heated Floor Systems

Electric floor warming mats or cable set under tile, tested before, during, and after installation, and coordinated with your electrician for the thermostat circuit.

We dry-lay and plan every job so full tiles land where the eye goes and slivers do not end up at the door. Ten minutes of layout is the difference between a good tile job and an expensive one that looks wrong.

No. 03 — The Difference

Why Rhode Island remodelers call Truelevel.

01

Layout Before Cutting

We dry-lay and plan every job so full tiles land where the eye goes and slivers do not end up at the door. Ten minutes of layout is the difference between a good tile job and an expensive one that looks wrong.

02

Waterproofing You Can Watch Us Test

Wet areas get a bonded waterproofing system and a flood test we will happily photograph for you. A shower that leaks is not a tile problem, it is a waterproofing problem, and it shows up in the ceiling below.

03

Substrate First, Always

Deflection checked, flatness measured, membrane where movement demands it. Most cracked tile and cracked grout traces back to what was underneath, not to the tile itself.

Common questions, considered answers.

How much does tile installation cost?+

Floor installation typically runs $12 to $18 a square foot for labor with standard porcelain, and $18 to $28 for large-format, natural stone, or intricate patterns. A full shower build with waterproofing generally lands between $3,200 and $6,500 depending on size, layout complexity, and tile selection. Substrate repair, leveling, and demolition are quoted separately after we see what is under the old floor.

How long will my bathroom be out of use?+

A standard shower build runs about five to seven working days: demolition, substrate and waterproofing, the flood test, setting tile, then grouting and sealing, with cure time between several of those steps. A floor-only job is usually two to three days. The cure times are not padding, and rushing them is exactly how a job fails a year later.

Can you tile over my existing floor?+

Sometimes, and it depends entirely on what is under there and how solid it is. Tiling over sound, flat, well-bonded tile is possible with the right preparation, but it raises the floor height and affects doors and transitions. Tiling over a flexing subfloor or a failing surface guarantees cracks. We check deflection and flatness first and tell you honestly which situation you are in.

Do you supply the tile?+

Most clients buy their own tile, which gives you the full range at the showrooms and lets you handle returns directly. We will tell you how much to order including waste, flag any tile that is difficult to install well, and go to the showroom with you if you want a second opinion. We can also supply setting materials, membrane, trim, and grout as part of the estimate.

Why does grout crack?+

Usually because something moved. A subfloor that flexes, a missing movement joint where tile meets a wall or another surface, or tile set over a slab crack that kept moving will all crack grout in a straight line. Grout in a corner should be caulk, not grout, which is another common cause. Filling the crack without fixing the movement just delays the same result.

Send us the bathroom.

Photos and rough dimensions get you a ballpark. We measure on site, check the substrate, and put a fixed scope in writing.
